Our Philosophy and Goals
The most important goal at the First Grace AMOS Child Care Center is to help each child feel good about himself/herself and his/her world. Each program is a “child centered” program. When completing tasks, the needs and abilities of the child are taken into consideration in all aspects of programming and classroom learning. The primary goal is to help each child build relationships with peers, teachers and other staff members in an atmosphere guided by Christian values without concern for overt religious practices. The religious aspects of the holidays will be emphasized and respect will be given to those who practice other major religions.
The needs of each child will be served in a comprehensive program which provides learning experiences in all areas: physical, social, emotional and intellectual.
Infant Program: In the infant room, the focus is on discovery within a secure, predictable environment. Each child’s individual needs will be met in regards to sleeping, eating and experiencing activities appropriate for their age.
Toddler Program: The toddler room will provide the child with a secure, loving atmosphere as they embark on learning social skills and experiencing the world around them through the planned activities and a daily routine.
3-5 year old (preschool) Program: In this group’s structured activity sessions, individual growth and maturity are primary goals. Relationships are encouraged with new friends as the child learns to feel secure in group situations. Throughout the yearly plan, a variety of materials and experiences are presented. Appreciation of the world around them is encouraged - the needs of other people, the patterns of nature, the excitement and joy of discovery and new experiences.
All children in the preschool room will be engaged in maturing the many skills that prepare them for school readiness including: listening, sharing, observing, expressing themselves appropriately, following directions, and an enthusiasm for learning. Children who are at the pre-kindergarten level will be provided with specific learning opportunities to be prepared for the transition to Kindergarten.
